INTERNAL SPOUTING SYSTEM REPLACEMENT
Internal gutters were a very popular design option in New Zealand from the 1980s to the mid-2000s. The two leading supplier brands that are often failing today are Klass Fascia and Taylor Fascia. Taylor and Klass Fascia are two fascia brands that came on the market in the ‘90s and were designed to hide the spouting, or internal gutter, behind a metal fascia to create a clean visual line. The system was popular on new builds for some time, but the system comes with some inherent design faults that can, in certain circumstances, lead to water getting inside the house.
Replacing your internal spouting system to make it watertight
Leaks and overflows can become a very large expense for you. Issues typically show up during heavy rains, which are the worst possible months for homeowners to be vulnerable to such issues.
To stop the leak before it gets worse, you should replace your fascia system with a new external system that eliminates the possibility of water penetrating the building.
Repairing and replacing a leaking or broken internal gutter is a highly skilled job, and is best left to professionals.

Benefits of a new fascia and gutter system
Replacing the old internal gutter system will remove the risks associated with water penetrating into your home.
- Reduce maintenance costs: If you replace your internal spouting system, you will have a new fascia and gutter that will reduce the costs you need to spend in the near future.
- Increase your home’s value: The external spouting option will enhance the look of your home.
- Make it easier to sell your home: Internal gutter systems will always be flagged by a building inspector when they are evaluating the condition of your home. Replacing them will reduce the risk of putting off potential buyers.
Overflow Retro for Taylor Fascia Gutter
A – Many have a series of holes punched through the gutter at 20 or 25. When the water level reaches this it travels down onto the soffit and into the walls wetting the framing, GIB, insulation, carpets and flooring.
B – When the gutter is blocked with debris or the rain event is extreme the water level rises and overflows inside onto the soffit and into the walls wetting the framing, GIB, insulation, carpets and flooring.
10e – The gutter lip is often separated allowing water in.
10 – Across the bottom to 5c often rusts out dropping water onto the soffit and into walls.
Leaf guards can be fitted however these make things worse as organic matter composts so moss can grow and cannot be cleaned. Other defects are shown later.
